Current Love List: Tea, Truffles & Tantra
Buying habits change when your diet shifts.
There's no question about it. We start getting more responsible with our money, we begin to care about the products and processes that go into making our stuff, we realize we can make a different with our choices. I like to think of it as voting with our dollars.
Here's a list of some of the things I'm voting for right now. No affiliate commissions. No sponsors. Just a pure adoration list of what I've been lovin' lately.
Move over agave. Coconut sugar is in town. Coconut sugar (in both the crystal and syrup form) is my new sweetener of choice. It contains less than 9% fructose and clocks in at 35 on the glycemic index, which is lower than agave (42), honey (55) and cane sugar (68).It’s loaded with minerals, such as potassium, magnesium, zinc, iron, and B vitamins, which is why you may hear some sugar connoisseurs calling it a “whole food sugar.”
Coconut sugar isn’t from the coconut itself. It’s drawn from the sap of the coconut palm tree buds. It’s similar in taste and color to brown sugar with an almost-caramel flavor. So it doesn’t have or impart a coconut flavor to baked goods, where you can just swap it for granulated sugar in recipes or anything else you’d use sugar for. Watch out for brands that dilute their coconut sugar with cane sugar. The Sweet Tree brand does not.
Organic. Raw. Vegan. Truffles. Enough said, right? These treats make excellent thank you or hostess gifts. UliMana even uses coconut nectar as a sweetener instead of agave in the Chia Moon Drops.
Yes, Kris Carr has a new ebook out and you know it's good. It includes everything you need to know about making juices and smoothies - the best equipment, how to savor the first sip, the best way to store your fruits and veggies, what to buy organic, a nutritional breakdown of all the ingredients and, of course, a ton of recipes from the Crazy Sexy community.
This girl just rocked my world with her signature Velocity session. She's works with "rising star 'preneurs who are ready to reveal their talents, real voices & potentially radical viewpoints - with unforgettable language that inspires and immediate 'YES.'" I gabbed about myself and my business for a couple of hours and she worked some serious magic. She rolled out lots incredibly eloquent and inspiring copy, like the stuff on my brand new philosophy page. I will definitely work with Alex again in the future.
Douglas rocks my socks off with his Tantric wisdom (which isn't all about sex by the way!). In this book he writes masterful and unique commentary on one of the world's most widely interpreted texts, the Bhagavad Gita. I'd say it's a must for any aspiring yoga instructor or serious student of yoga philosophy. Poised for Grace illuminates the wisdom of the Bhagavad Gita in a refreshing and thought-provoking way.

Pukka's 3 Mint Tea
Mint tea is a timeless blend that I always keep stocked at home. It supports digestion, refreshes the palate and is naturally caffeine free. Pukka has an incredible blend that I've been hooked on for a while. I love the duo that founded the company, too. Sebastian Pole is an ayurvedic practitioner and Tim Westwell is a businessman. Two guys after my own heart - ayurveda and entrepreneurship! They only have one stockist in the U.S. that sells online (Health Matters America), which turns this tea into a rare and luxurious gift. But, at the rate they're going Pukka's teas will be more available in the US soon.

Cool mugs just make life more fun. I picked up these owl mugs while doing holiday shopping and ended up keeping 'em. I couldn't help it! They're so cute.
