How to Create the Optimal Blueprint for Websites That Sell

  • How to Create the Optimal Blueprint for Websites That Sell
Oprah says, “We’re all called. Everybody has a calling, and your real job in life is to figure out what that is and get about the business of doing it.” And if Oprah says it, well, it must be true, right? ;)

Part of the "business of doing it" in todays world is having a website. That's just the way it is. And, like everything else, there's an art to creating one that people will love and that will sell what you have to offer. I call it an optimal blueprint; lining things up in just the right way so that the ultimate flow, growth and expression is made available.

Because part of my job here is to help you unleash your calling in the most empowered way possible:

9 Practices for Creating A Homepage that Sells:

  1. Set an intention for exactly what you want your website to accomplish.
  2. Create a Sacred Place. The energy that goes into creating a sacred place online has a very different outcome than creating something with the attitude of simply setting up a website. You're being challenged to bring the 'sacred' into all parts of your creation, into each choice, each purchase, each element of design. You're essentially participating in a holy act by connecting to something deeper while creating a place for others to click into.
  3. Be in the game. What is your mission? Are you all in when it comes to this calling? You MUST be in the game if you want your audience to trust you and engage with you.
  4. Be an invitation. Don't make other people wrong for not believing what you believe or eating what you eat. Simply be an invitation to try something new. Invite them to participate, come forward, and open up to your perspective.
  5. Have a mug shot on your homepage. People want to know they're dealing with an actual human being, not an internet robot. Put up a picture of your pretty self for goodness sakes.
  6. Have a killer headline that describes what your site is about or what you do. When people land on your site the first thing they'll look for is something telling them where they are. Next, they'll make a quick decision on whether or not this is something that interests them and choose to stay or go. If they're confused right off the bat, chances are that they'll go. If they can connect with you just from a few words, chances are higher that they'll stay. You can always change and refine your headline, but get something up there now.
  7. Have a newsletter opt-in. Give people a way to allow you to stay in touch with them.
  8. Have links to your social media stuff. Link to your Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, LinkedIn. Again, give people a way to let you stay in touch with them.
  9. Tell people what you're selling in a classy way on the homepage. Don't make us click around and dig for it!

Believe in your message, your magic, your shine. Line yourself up with the optimal blueprint for reaching people who care about what you have to offer. Being scared is natural. Shutting down your God/Goddess-given gifts is not. Be bold. Be brilliant. Show the world whatcha got.
