We all have an Inner MD.

A part of us that 'knows' exactly what we need when we need it.

Our Inner MD has our most vibrant health in mind and is always working to maintain a delicate balance so that we can live full out.

You might hear your Inner MD say something like, "it's time to get some sleep" or "a glass of water is just what I need right now".

For those who really know how to listen, you might hear your Inner MD say something more subtle. You might hear that it's time to let go of an old thought pattern, that you need to amp up the calcium or that the colon needs some attention.

I usually hear mine saying "more chlorophyll please" or "be more gentle with yourself."

Our Inner MD's don't rest, take breaks or go on little vacays because they need to get away. They're always home and are always communicating.

Somehow we still get sick and feel less than optimal at times. So, where's the breakdown? The breakdown is in communication and it happens on our end. We don't always make space to listen. We don't always want to listen.

It's a practice to let go of being the 'doer'. It's not easy listen to what your body wants for dinner. The mind tends to yell louder...and it's wants something like french fries.

We have to work to sift through the yelling and keep the communication lines open with our real doc - the one that has longevity at heart. In my experience, yoga, Ayurveda and raw foods all help to create clear communication lines for the Inner MD to reach us.

I find it easier to listen on days when I've done these three things:

  1. Meditation in the morning, even if only for 5 minutes

  2. Sun salutations in the morning, 5-10

  3. Made myself a green drink for breakfast
