Notes on my 20's
I just celebrated my big 2-7. Is this old or young? I don't know. I feel like an old soul regardless...whatever that means.
Birthdays bring up more stuff for me the older I get. Sometimes I get depressed because I haven't met some set of expectations I set for myself. Sometimes they're more carefree and celebratory. This year was the ladder. But, they're always a time for reflection.
I celebrated by claiming a 'no work' day, sleeping in, making breakfast, going on a hike with my dog and husband, watching a movie in the middle of the day and taking a bath.
I threw myself a more simple and true to heart 'party'. I invited 10 friends to yoga class with one of my favorite teachers. We laughed, omed and stretched our way through practice...something many of us had never done together before. I would highly recommend it to anyone! Here's a photo:

These are some notes on my 20s (thus far). Take em' or leave em'.

- Only lend stuff if I don't want it back.
- Credit cards don't really work in my favor.
- Listen more than I talk.
- Commitments are always tested. Always. And...
- Those who succeed are usually those who do what they say they're going to do.
- Traveling out of the country is a must for personal growth (and spring break in Mexico doesn't count).
- Go to Burning Man at least once.
- If you don't kiss girls in your twenties, you'll probably never get around to trying it out. You should try it out.
- There are a lot of evil people in the world (evil meaning using power to avoid spiritual growth).
- Take care of the body. I only get one.
- Pursuing my passion does not have to be an extracurricular activity, but note that the energy, growth and work it takes to do this is much more intense than I originally thought it would be.
- The 'American Dream' of a good job working for someone else, a big house, 2 cars, 2 kids (one boy and one girl, of course!) and a white picket fence - well, whose dream was that?
- Thank god for yoga, meditation, ayurveda, family, true friends and laughter.
- It's ok to be scared and still go after my dream.
- If I'm not out of my comfort zone, stagnation, complacency and stuckness are on the horizon.
- More stuff is not better. In fact, less stuff is better.
- Live by example.
- Spiritual teachers come in many forms....disease, disorder, miracles, death, addiction, mother nature and real people....but never in material things.
- I'm actually not right all of the time. ;)
- Things change.
- Marriage is not a trap. It's a doorway to greater freedom - but you have to be open to looking closely at yourself.
- Letting go....letting go....letting go. There is so much to let go of.
