What Makes An Exceptional Yoga Teacher?
I'm not someone who has logged 10+ years of a personal yoga practice at home, nor have I previously been certified in another form of yoga, nor do I teach.
However, it is a goal of mine to start teaching (maybe even this year?!) and I want to be prepared. In terms of teacher preparation, what I'm placing importance on is not the time it takes to get certified or even the style of yoga (I believe they all have many benefits!).
What I place an extremely high value on is a program that supports one in achieving the capacity to hold a "tight container" while others heal their bodies, change their minds and practice living full out.
A tight container has a strong leader with a complete toolbox. If there's an injury the leader knows how to deal with it. If there's an energy in the room, the leader can feel it and adjust gracefully and accordingly. If the students need a demo, they can perform it. If there's compassion and understanding that needs to be shown, they can show it. The space is right. The lights are right. The airflow is right. All things have been considered.
And, most importantly, the people inside the container feel SAFE.

What do you consider to be qualities of a tight container? Do you notice the difference between a class with a tight container and a class with a loose container?
